New Driver Contract

Welcome to our Web Site!!

Auto Craftsmen would like to offer you an opportunity to experience the kind service you deserve with all your car needs.

Our Mission is to raise the awareness of the consumer regarding the automotive industry.

We do this in many ways.

  • We offer a FREE Road Test / Consultation to all new customers! We get to know your wants and needs regarding your vehicle. We will educate you on what your vehicle needs to be safe and reliable. You can then decide to work with us, or take the information with you down the road with no obligations!
  • We write a monthly newsletter for our client base on interesting topics and keeping them abreast of what their vehicle needs as the seasons change.
  • We write a monthly magazine article called “Under The Hood” for Vermont Women Magazine.
  • We wrote a book How To Buy A Great Used Car An Interactive Manual For Women. The other Auto Dealers in town call us nasty names. We don’t care. We are sick and tired of seeing people just like you taken advantaged of when they buy a used car.
  • We offer Car Care Clinics and in depth Classes on Buying A Great Used Car. For information on our next class, call the shop at 223-2253.
  • Print out a copy of our "New Driver Contract." Positive, clear communication goes a long way to helping your new driver know what you expect, reducing your stress and keeping them safe!

How can I find a shop in my area that will give me exceptional service like Auto Craftsmen does?

You don’t have to go to the Dealer!

Some consumers think they are locked into going to the dealer to maintain their vehicle’s warranty.

According to the federal Magnusom-Moss Warranty Act, you can have your vehicle serviced by any competent independent garage and still maintain your warranty.

In addition, you can use any name brand, quality parts to service the vehicle. The manufacturer cannot require you to use original equipment brand spark plugs, filters, oil, belts, hoses, brakes, wiper blades or any other parts unless they’re supplied for free.

All you have to do to keep your warranty in force is have the vehicle serviced at the intervals specified in your Owner’s Manual or Warranty Booklet, and keep careful records. All repair records need to include the date of service, odometer reading, make, model, vehicle identification number, and parts used.

Having a trusted mechanic to look over your car on a regular basis will help find anything that needs to be repaired and would be covered under your warranty. We have sent many a client to the dealer with a written description of the problem along with digital pictures so there is no question of getting it covered under warranty.

There can be a huge difference between repair shops!

Some consumers make the mistake of choosing a shop based solely on a price quote they received over the telephone. Some shops and even some Dealers use this “tactic” to get you in the door. They give you a misleadingly low price to get you in the door, and then will call you with the “real price” once your car on their lift, torn apart and undrivable.
There can also be a wide range of the quality and the price of parts used for the same repair. You want a shop that explains all your options. While cost is certainly one consideration when choosing a shop, it should not be the only factor.

Here are some suggestions that will help you choose a good, reputable repair shop.

  • Ask around for referrals. Has anyone you know had a good or a bad experience with a particular dealer or repair shop?
  • Try to find a shop that has a lot of repeat customers. Customers are more likely to stay with a repair shop that they trust and one that does a good job for them.
  • Is the shop clean, neat, and well organized? Is the staff considerate and helpful?
  • Does the shop have Master Mechanics with ASE Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. This nonprofit organization offers exams that set a national standard of technician competence.
  • Make sure they guarantee all their work at least a 6 month / 6000 mile warranty.
  • Check to see if they are an AAA approved facility. AAA has very stringent requirements including surveys to insure that the customers of the facility are satisfied with the level of service they are receiving.

Today’s car technology requires constant training to keep up with all the changes. The shop with the best trained and certified mechanics and most up-to date equipment will usually do the best for you!
